What’s your Enneagram Type?

I became truly interested in what the Enneagram was a few years ago. I had never heard of it before but at a family reunion my cousin was reading The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery and she shared her journey with me. It took me a while but I finally read the book myself and it was incredibly eye opening. So much so, that when I started struggling with myself again this year its the first book I picked up I started reading it again.

The Enneagram is a personality typing system based on “a modern synthesis of a number of ancient wisdom traditions”. (The Enneagram Institute) It is a truly comprehensive tool that provides so much insight to understanding yourself and those around you.

The Enneagram consists of 9 personality types:

Type One is principled, purposeful, self-controlled, and perfectionistic.
Type Two is generous, demonstrative, people-pleasing, and possessive.
Type Three is adaptable, excelling, driven, and image-conscious.
Type Four is expressive, dramatic, self-absorbed, and temperamental.
Type Five is perceptive, innovative, secretive, and isolated.
Type Six is engaging, responsible, anxious, and suspicious.
Type Seven is spontaneous, versatile, acquisitive, and scattered.
Type Eight is self-confident, decisive, willful, and confrontational.
Type Nine is receptive, reassuring, complacent, and resigned.
(The Enneagram Institute)

It is so much more than your typical personality test and truly uncovers sub-conscious behavior patterns and what motivates us to act in certain ways. It is an amazing self-development tool and key to self-discovery journey.

Just based on the description and what I know about myself I knew I was a Type 1 . So when I finally took this free enneagram test here it was no surprise that I am a definitely a Type 1.

Type 1 – Reformer
Perfectionists, responsible, fixated on improvement
People of this personality type are essentially looking to make things better, as they think nothing is ever quite good enough. This makes them perfectionists who desire to reform and improve; idealists who strive to make order out of the omnipresent chaos.

Messy, Crazy, ME

I started this blog because I need a place to confess, to ramble, to share my messy and crazy unconventional life because maybe you’re like me and you need a place to see that you are not alone.

I am a coffee-loving, Jesus following, whiskey-drinking, minimalist living, wanderlust mama just trying to find my path. Whether you are any of these or none of these, you are in good company.

Maybe your path is just as messy and crazy as mine and you feel like you can’t even imagine where your arrow is headed. I hear ya! I’ve been forward, backward, left, right, and a ring around the roses more times than I can count.

I’m here to tell you, it’s OK!

It’s ok to embrace the journey, it’s ok to love the mess, and it’s ok to ask “what the hell am I doing?”.

It’s all OK … because if we seek God’s will in all you do, he will show you which path to take (Proverbs 3:6 NLT).
